At Don’t Panic the team is constantly monitoring our awards portfolio to ensure we are delivering what agencies and businesses need in terms of reward and recognition.
There is much debate about the fine lines that differentiated content and PR and that discussion is not for today, however, we noticed that the same teams and agencies were entering both the Content Awards and PR Awards. After discussion with our panel of industry judges, we decided it was time to celebrate content creators and PR perfectionists in the same space and at the same time, and The Content & PR Pro Awards were born.
Over to the creative team to share their brand story.
James, Head of Creative takes it from here.
“How on earth do you visualise content? And what about PR? Those two questions faced the Creative Department, and we began work!
Bringing every idea from every member of the team is important to me, so where better place to start than a word map? Taking the old-school approach, we commandeered the meeting room and the work whiteboard and we shared our thoughts! Being very different in personality and bringing different schema and associations to the conversation, ideas quickly escalated! So many words, so many phrases some relating to content some to PR and some to both!
The Iconography
We went away, did our research and reconvened! Storytelling became our intrinsic link. The idea that content is created for a purpose be that selling, raising awareness or providing information (and many more) led us to the belief that content is in essence the start of a conversation and PR continues that conversation and amplifies the message. How does that look in creative form? Speech bubbles!
We played around with shapes and colours, but we needed to reflect the ever-changing and fast pace of content and PR in the real world. We wanted strong shapes and bold typefaces, but also something fun and adventurous to mirror the space in which content and PR work.
The Name
What to call these new awards was also a sticking point. The Content and PR Awards was of course the obvious answer! But hey, were designers we never choose the obvious answer?
We had created an exciting new brand look, and we wanted a name to match. Good content and PR are never ordinary and neither are our awards.
Don’t Panic Awards stand out from the crowd! They are judged by independent, industry experts, and the judging is rigorous and robust. Our entrants and their clients and employees trust the process and know winning (or shortlisting) is based upon merit and results. We’re proud of the awards we deliver.
We needed to create an identity, an overarching brand that would combine the best of both our previous Content and PR Awards, and we wanted a name that conveyed their reputation.
You see Pro, and the obvious assumption is professionals! Well, professionals deliver these awards, they are judged by professionals, and awarded to professionals, but they are so much more than this.
Creating engaging content and the art of PR articulation is not just about being professional it is about being productive, proud, and proficient, it’s about achieving progression and prosperity, and it’s about the promotion of your work and success. That is a lot of pro words for one paragraph and digital marketing!”
And where do Don’t Panic fit in? The UK Content & PR Pro Awards and The European Content & PR Pro Awards are PRO you! Pro (For, in case you need help) the teams and individuals working in content and PR, pro your results, and pro standing you out from the crowd.
